Which fireplace is right for my home?
At this time of year there is nothing better than sitting in front of a fire, glass of wine or mug of hot chocolate in hand.
The Client required a flexible, commercial building with two office/showroom levels above a semi-submerged basement parking level. The building had to comply with estate guidelines which strongly define the form & external finishes. Street facade above with the canteen balcony projecting over the entrance stair & ramp, announcing entrance & providing shade to the entrance porch. The basement parking level ramp is in the foreground.
The Brief demanded flexibility such that the building could be let out to one, two, three, or even four tenants, at any one time. The solution was to create a central circulation core linking all common spaces, from which any unit can be accessed. The central core also provides access for all tenants to the semi-underground, naturally ventilated basement parking level, with visitor parking provided in the forecourt.
View from the entrance porch down the approach road & across Northgate Estate. The entrance ramp & stair in exposed aggregate provides a hard-wearing & attractive finish.
The small showroom with merchandise displayed on the walls also doubles up as a meeting room for buyers & representatives from the industry.
The balcony off the canteen, (located in the central zone accessible to all tenants), is popular with staff & visitors alike.
